The origin of the drones remains unknown, and the incident is part of a wider pattern of disruptive airspace incursions across Europe, with many recently in Brussels, that have raised security alerts and been described by European leaders as a form of "hybrid warfare." Eindhoven Airport is both a public and military one, an Air Base with NATO aircraft, known as Welschap. After the incident only Transavia low cost airline returned the planes back.
