Charak mela or charak fair is celebrated in the rural areas of West Bengal, Assam, and Bangladesh. It's a folk festival of the Hindu religion that happened on the last day of the Bengali month Chaitra (songkranti) according to the Bengali calendar. Here the main monk walks over sharp weapons or sometimes he lies down on a nailed bed and other monks are beaten with a traditional Crusher on his body from above. Later he helps to insert the large iron spear into the backs of the other monks with which the Charak festival is completed. This photo was taken at Barnia, West Bengal; India on april 15, 2023.
