The carnival season in Munich, Germany, officially starts on November 11, 2024, with the traditional opening at the Viktualienmarkt at 11:11 sharp. The event offers a program with the presentation of the new official prince and princess of the city of Munich, Christian IV and Michael II, and the youth prince and princess, Johan I and Hannah I. Munich's Second Mayor, Dominik Krause, gives a welcoming speech. Every year, the Viktualienmarkt offers a lively preview of the carnival season organized by the Narrhalla, a carnival society that has existed in Munich since 1893.
