The pheasant-tailed jacana (Hydrophasianus chirurgus) is a jacana in the monotypic genus Hydrophasianus. The breeding plumage is marked by the elongated central tail feathers that give the bird its name. It is the only jacanas that migrate long distances and breed on floating vegetation during the rainy season monsoon, June-September. The pheasant-tailed jacana couple walking on aquatic vegetation of Jalngi river and hunting insects at Jhinuk Ghata, West Bengal, India on 03/08/2022.
