Nawaat's magazines, whose cover reads in French 'violence against women', are made available during a solidarity day that brings together Tunisian journalists, human rights, and civil society activists at the headquarters of the National Syndicate of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) in Tunis, Tunisia, on November 13, 2025. The solidarity day supports journalists from the independent media outlet Nawaat after Tunisian authorities suspend its activities. Nawaat is a progressive, independent media association based in Tunisia. Its activities are suspended for one month by a decision of the Tunisian authorities on October 31. The suspension follows an administrative and financial audit and is seen by supporters as a political move to silence an independent media outlet amidst a broader crackdown on civil society. Nawaat frames it as an arbitrary measure intended to silence free expression and commits to complying with the suspension while vowing to appeal the decision in court.

Brazilian expats and Berliners protest in front of the Brazilian Embassy against a project of constitutional reform and a legislative initiative of amnesty in Berlin, Germany, on September 21, 2025. The Brazilian parliament deals with a constitutional amendment known as the Shielding Project (Projeto de Emenda Constitucional da Blindagem, renamed by protesters as 'da Bandidagem' or 'of Banditry'), which requires Congress to authorize any criminal charges against deputies and senators through a secret vote. This week, Brazil's Chamber of Deputies, with a conservative majority, approves a parliamentary initiative that extends immunity for legislators and an amnesty project that could benefit far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro, sentenced by the Supreme Federal Tribunal to 27 years in prison for coup-plotting.
