A handwritten wooden sign 'Never forget' left during 'March of the Living' at the former Nazi-German Auschwitz Birkenau concentration and extermination camp at Oswiecim, Poland on April 24, 2017. The annual march is a part of educational program, which brings Jewish students from around the world to Poland, where they explore the remnants of the Holocaust. Participants march silently three kilometers from Auschwitz to Auschwitz II–Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp complex built during World War II.

Doctor Cuckoo and Dr Pipi Iva Lapatova and Yanita Kirova performs in the national cardiologycal hospital in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia on December 07,2016. More than 300 000 children are hospitalized for treatment in Bulgarian hospitals per year. Whenever children find themselves in an unknown environment, away from friends, family and games, medical clowns appear and bring back the smiles on children’s faces and make the kids forget about the fear and the pain at least for a while. At “The cool practice of Dr Cuckoo and Dr Pipi” we are talking about a different type of clowns who do not perform on theatre or circus stage but at pediatric sections among the country. Through “The cool practice of Dr Cuckoo and Dr Pipi” Iva Lapatova and Yanita Kirova improve their tone, create a normal environment and remove emotional stress as well as the barrier between the medical team and the little patients. Laughter is the cheapest and most certain medicine and everybody needs their dose of laughter on daily basis, especially the kids. It has been scientifically proven that laughter decreases the produce of stress hormones – cortisone and adrenaline and at the same time stimulates the produce of endorphins which increase the level of blood oxygen, accelerate the cardiac activity, reduce blood pressure and gain the immune system in health. The actors of “The cool practice of Dr Cuckoo and Dr Pipi” think that there is a brighter light than the one of the spot lights’ and it can be seen in children’s eyes! And while you can occasionally be blinded by the spot light, the light in children’s eyes can never do that to you. The main objective of the project is to train and implement professional medical clowns in Bulgarian hospitals and to standardize the clown therapy as a recognized paramedical occupation in the country.
