The Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal is promulgated on September 20, 2015 (Ashoj 3, 2072 BS) by the Constituent Assembly, as an achievement of the Nepali people's seven-decade-long struggle, sacrifices, and popular movements. The Constitution of Nepal, consisting of 35 parts, 308 articles, and 9 schedules, embraces federal democratic republic, inclusive democracy, proportional inclusive representation, secularism, and other principles. The Constitution is committed to building a prosperous nation based on democratic values and norms, with a dedication to socialism.

Cadres of the Nepal Communist Party march in Kathmandu, Nepal, on August 15, 2025, against the multi-million US dollar development pact, the MCC. Nepal formally ratifies the 500 million USD Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact in 2022. The House of Representatives ratifies the MCC Nepal Compact with what it calls an ''interpretative declaration.'' In nearly 20 years since its inception, MCC compacts help alleviate poverty around the world by forming partnerships with developing countries committed to economic freedom, investing in their citizens, and good governance, including promoting democratic principles and combating corruption. The Government of Nepal signs the MCC agreement in 2017 after determining its goals to modernize Nepal's energy and transportation sectors with the hope of helping more than 23 million Nepali.
