There horseshoe shaped buildings that opened in 2014 is a residential building, having inside a huge interior market hall with more than 100 stalls and coffee places. The side facades are transparent made from glass and the interior sides and ceiling have 11.000m2 artwork by Arno Coenen, named Hoorns des Overvloeds depicting fruits, vegetables, seeds, fish, flowers and insects. Historically the site of the Markthal is an archaeological site, a 14th century buried village.
