A doctor opens a baby incubator to check up with a baby.The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) department in Shifa Hospital in Gaza city is donated by the Japanese government. The Israeli blockade to the Gaza strip has made the department and the hospital at breaking point facing shortage of medical equipments and medicines. Women hold carnations during a wreath laying ceremony at the Piskarevskoe Memorial Cemetery in Saint Petersburg, on January, 27, 2017, marking the 73-rd anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad from Nazi blockade in the WWII. Russia marks today the 73-nd anniversary of the breaking of the Nazi siege of Leningrad during World War II that saw more than a million people starve to death. The German and Finnish siege and blockade of Leningrad was broken on January 18, 1943 but finally lifted a year after, on January 27, 1944. The city's name was changed back from Leningrad to Saint Petersburg after Soviet Union's collapse in 1991.
