The door of a car frames a horse walking across an enclosure at an equestrian rehabilitation center in a village in the Zaporizhia region, Ukraine, on November 5, 2025. The founder of the center, Nina Kovaliv, works for many years as an accountant, including at a stud farm, where her love for horses begins. There she buys her first mare, Richka, saving her from slaughter. With the outbreak of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Nina starts rescuing horses from shelling and abandonment. Among them is Zara, a pony left behind in a garage when its owners evacuate, and a mare from the front-line village of Novodanylivka. To keep her horses, Nina opens the center in a village in the Zaporizhia region in June of this year, offering free services to veterans of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Tunisian journalists attend a solidarity day that brings them together with human rights and civil society activists at the headquarters of the SNJT in Tunis, Tunisia, on November 13, 2025. The solidarity day supports journalists from the independent media outlet Nawaat after Tunisian authorities suspend its activities. Nawaat is a progressive, independent media association based in Tunisia. Its activities are suspended for one month by a decision of the Tunisian authorities on October 31. The suspension follows an administrative and financial audit and is seen by supporters as a political move to silence an independent media outlet amidst a broader crackdown on civil society. Nawaat frames it as an arbitrary measure intended to silence free expression and commits to complying with the suspension while vowing to appeal the decision in court.
