Yazidi people in a makeshift camp near Sinjar, on April 5, 2017. Yazidis still gripped with fear find alternative places to live as 90 percent of Sinjar has been destroyed. Many Yazidi refuse to go back even though Sinjar has been liberated over one and a half years ago. Many have left camps to set up permanent communities in abandoned buildings, like these five Yazidi family members who do not want to live in a camp. The Yazidi are a community that have lived together for centuries and ISIL broke up the community when they took SInjar in 2014. Iraq's estimated 500,000 Yazidis now fear the end of their people and their religion as they adjust to living away from their community and live in isolated conditions.
