Torino, Italy - January 14, 2023. Demonstrators hold a banner in downtown Torino during the demonstration of anarchists, protesting against the 41 bis regime for Alfredo Cospito, an insurrectionist anarchist convicted of terrorist offenses and placed in the restrictive Article 41-bis prison regime in a Sardinian prison. This article of the Prison Administration Act rule provides for the possibility for the Minister of Justice to suspend the application of the standard rules for the treatment of prisoners under the law in exceptional cases for offenses of organized crime, terrorism, and subversion, and apply a harder prison regime. On 20 October 2022, Cospito began an unlimited hunger strike against the conditions of the 41-bis regime, and over 200 criminal lawyers and jurists signed a letter condemning the judicial treatment of Cospito.
