A backlit view of the monumental alebrijes route takes place on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from the Zocalo of Mexico City to Paseo de la Reforma, coinciding with the International Day against Breast Cancer in Mexico. According to data from the National Institute of Anthropology and History, alebrijes are a Mexican craft traditionally made with the cartoneria technique. These are fantastic figures that combine physiognomic elements of various animals, whether real or imaginary, and are characterized by being painted with vibrant colors. Based on some chronicles and stories, Pedro Linares Lopez, a cartonero from Mexico City, is considered the inventor of the alebrijes.
