The RN and its allies are winning Sunday's round with 33% of the vote, followed by a left-wing bloc with 28% and well ahead of President Emmanuel Macron's broad alliance of centrists, who are scoring just 22%. The left and the far-left are unionizing in a new umbrella called 'Front Populaire' (i.e., 'Popular Front'). President Emmanuel Macron is calling a snap legislative election, to be held in two rounds on June 30 and July 7, after his centrist alliance was trounced by the RN in last Sunday's European Parliament ballot.
