The Sant'Egidio Vaccination Centre against Covid-19 for fragile and homeless people was opened in collaboration with the Lazio Region municipality, the Italian Red Cross and the Community of Sant'Egidio. Farmers gouge coconut seeds to make copra in Sibedi Village, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia on January 25, 2021. Farmers in the region are reselling their coconuts in the form of copra after the copra price has risen again from IDR 3,500 to an average of IDR 11,400 per kilogram since the beginning of 2021. Previously, farmers sold their coconut in the form of raw seeds because the price was more profitable for Rp3,500 per seed. Indonesia is one of the world's coconut producing countries. Most of the coconut is used to support domestic production, especially coconut oil. In the last decade, the role of coconut has been displaced by the massively cultivated oil palm because it has a higher economic value. Even so, the massive exploitation of oil palm has drawn protests from environmental agencies because it is considered less friendly to environmental sustainability and tends to marginalize local communities.

A young female protester raises a placard which reads in Arabic, ‘don't impoverish me, don't silence me, don't repress me, don't marginalize me, either you kill me or you let me live’, as she took part in anti-government demonstration held on Avenue Habib Bourguiba in the capital Tunis, Tunisia, on January 19, 2021, to protest against the government of the prime minister Hichem Mechichi, and in support of the protest movements that hit Tunisia in several cities overnight over the past few days. Protesters clashed with the security forces who fired tear gas and used pepper spray in attempt to disperse them. They also claimed for the release of youths arrested by the police during the latest protests, and denounced the high cost of living and the increase in poverty.
