Fatal shooting in Newark, New Jersey, United States on May 11, 2023. Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage announced that the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting of Romulo Luzuriaga, 57, of Newark, New Jersey. On May 11, 2023 at 10:25 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting at the 200 block of Grafton Avenue in Newark. Police located Luzuriaga in a car suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:05 p.m. The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
