Nepal records more than 11,545 cases of infection since January this year. Gandaki Province alone records 5,482 cases, while Bagmati, hosting the capital Kathmandu, records 3,178 cases. Dengue is a viral disease transmitted by female Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. The same vectors also transmit chikungunya, yellow fever, and Zika virus, according to the World Health Organization.
