A woman has written on the ground 'Macron go back'. Tens of thousands people protested for the 14th day of protests against the pensionreform law, which delay retirement by two years to 64 and was pushed through parliament by the government without a vote. During the protest riot police violently charge at protesters to cut the cortege in two. Policemen used batons, tear gas canisters, pepeer spays and made several arr'ests. At least two people stayed KO on the ground and have been arrested. However the Constitutional Council said the same evening that the pension bill is constitutionnaly valid. Polls still show 93% of workers oppose the pension reform. The retirement age would be raised to 64 years (for 43 years of continued work) and the pensions will be lower specially for women, 'short careers' and low wages people. Toulouse. France. Protesters hold a banner reading 'Carole degats' a pun on 'Carole Delga, head of the Regional Council Occitanie who backs the A69 highway. More than 8000 protesters marched 12km against the planned A69 highway. The collectives 'La Voie Est Libre' (ie 'The Way Is Free'), the farmers organization Confederation Paysanne, XR Toulouse (Extinction Rebellion Toulouse) and 'Les soulevements de la Terre' organized a week-end of mobilization and a 12 km march in Saix near Castres (Tarn) against the beginning of the works on the decried future highway Toulouse-Castres, the A69. Thousands of people stayed in the camp with tents. They assisted to speeches, press conferences, information points before going protesting along places to be destroyed by the highway and on the N126 . This highway would cost (at date) EUR512millions for 54 kilometers, part of the money will be public. Opponents at this project say that the reprofiling of the N126 will be suffisant for the 6,000 vehicles planned per day and would cost far less money. More than 100 protected species and 400ha of agricultural field would be destroyed if the A69 highway is built. The A69 highway is already nicknamed 'Fabre highway' as it's this compagny which wants the A69 to be built. Saix. Tarn. France. April 22th 2023.

Black bloc protesters march through Washington, DC, for reproductive rights and bodily autonomy after the Supreme Court reversed the federal right to abortion decided 49 years ago in Roe v. Wade. The legal basis for the decision could be used in the future as precedent to overturn other rights not explicitly stated in the Constitution (e.g., same-sex marriage).
