26 September 2019
Palestinian women protest in response to an upsurge of killings of women across the country, on 26 September, 2019, in Haifa, Israel. In 2019 alone, over twenty-eight women have been killed across historic Palestine. A grassroots Palestinian women's movement, "Tal3at", organized a series of simultaneous protests held on the evening of 26 September in Haifa, Ramallah, Al-Taybeh, Jaffa, Jerusalem, Gaza, and Berlin, in solidarity with one another, and as part of a broader struggle for liberation. According to "Tal3at" protest organizers: "We see this as part of the violence inflicted against women by a global patriarchal system. Women everywhere face economic, political, social and gender-based violence. We want to confront this daily violence with unity in struggle... We are protesting against discrimination and racism, to build a safer and a welcoming Palestinian society for all. We are going out to the streets to build Palestinian bridges against violence and killing. We are going out to the streets against patriarchy everywhere, against colonialism and patriarchy in Palestine, because there is no possibility of return and no free homeland without free women."
