The strike was convoked in protest against the judicial trial against the pro-independence leaders which is taking place, in the same days, in Madrid. Protesters also demand the release of all the political prisoners, who already spent more than one year in prison for being the responsible of organising the Catalan independence referendum of October 1st 2017.

The River Buriganga, which runs past Dhaka City, is at present one of the most polluted rivers in Bangladesh. The City of Dhaka discharge about 4,500 tons of solid waste every day and most of it is released into the Buriganga. The water of this river is now so polluted that all fish have died, and increasing filth and human waste have turned it like a black gel. Even rowing across the river is now difficult for it smells so badly.

The young Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi accompanied by her parents and brothers were present in Nantes, France, on 18 September 2018 on the occasion of a conference of presentation and exchange on the Popular Resistance very in Palestine. Ahed, born in January 2001, gained notoriety on December 15, 2017, after she shoved, slapped and slapped an Israeli soldier in Nabi Salih, her home village in Cisjordania and occupied by Israel for more than 50 years. This incident occurred on the sidelines of protests against the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Hebrew state.Ahed Tamimi was arrested on 19 December 2017 by the Israeli military. Sentenced to eight months in jail, she was released on July 29, 2018.
