Martin Luther King III greets Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) during a press conference on voting rights hosted by the Deliver for Voting Rights coalition. The conference features the King family, civil rights leaders, members of Congress, and representatives of partner organizations. The King family asked Americans not to celebrate the birthday of MLK Jr. if the Senate had not yet passed legislation to protect voting rights, but to call their Senators to demand they pass voting rights guarantees. The Senate is expected to vote later in the week on the Freedom to Vote and John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Acts.
