Sarcophaga is a genus of true flies and the type genus of the flesh-fly family (Sarcophagidae). The members of this cosmopolitan genus are frequently known as common flesh flies. As the common name implies, their larvae typically feed on decaying meat. Some, however, instead eat the bacteria and other small organisms living on carrion. Many species have adapted to humans, and while they are usually nuisance pests, some are medically significant vectors of pathogens and bacteria. A mating pair of Flesh Fly (Sarcophaga) is on a leaf in a forest at Tehatta, West Bengal, India on march 06, 2023.

Aedes albopictus is capable of hosting the Zika virus and is considered a potential vector for Zika transmission among humans. This mosquito closely associates with humans and typically flies and feeds in the daytime in addition to dusk and dawn.
