The International Court of Justice (ICJ) at the Peace Palace in The Hague, Netherlands, is currently rejecting Nicaragua's request to block Germany from selling weapons to Israel. The judges have voted 15 against 1, refusing the request for an emergency order that would direct Germany to halt arms sales to Israel amidst a conflict with Palestinians in Gaza. ICJ President Nawaf Salam has stated in the ruling that the current circumstances do not necessitate the court's intervention with provisional measures. Meanwhile, a protest in support of Palestine and Nicaragua is taking place outside the Peace Palace on April 30, 2024.

Tents are remaining in place for a second week of ongoing protests on the campus of Columbia University in New York City, on April 15, 2024. In the foreground, a makeshift memorial is lying to Israeli hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, 2023. Tensions are remaining high amidst ongoing talks between students and the administration days after Columbia University President Nemat ''Minouche'' Shafik called the NYPD onto the college campus to arrest scores of pro-Palestine students who were refusing to dismantle protest encampments on the main campus quad. The standoff and arrests are occurring after President Shafik had faced questions before Congress on campus antisemitism and enforcement of rules against protests. Demonstrators are demanding investment transparency, divestment from Israel in the wake of the ongoing Israel-Gaza War, and amnesty for students disciplined for participation in the protests.

The standoff and arrests are occurring after President Shafik faced questions before Congress on campus antisemitism and enforcement of rules against protests. Pro-Palestine and Pro-Israel demonstrators are protesting both inside and outside the locked gates of the campus. Earlier today, Columbia University President Minouche Shafik called the NYPD onto the campus to arrest scores of pro-Palestine students who were refusing to dismantle protest encampments on the main campus quad.
