A boy from Mindanao residing at a makeshift school at the University of the Philippines International Center in Quezon City, east of Manila, Philippines, flies a kite on Saturday, August 19, 2017. In a statement, the Save Our Schools Network, an organization facilitating the shelter of 'lumad' refugees at the University of the Philippines campus, challenged the National Commission on the Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) to 'support their fellow lumad's aspirations to have a school rather than be a tool for counter-insurgency.' President Rodrigo Duterte has previously stated that he will bomb indigenous peoples' schools, accusing them of teaching rebellion to indigenous children.
