Retired Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court, lies in repose on the Lincoln Catafalque in the Court’s Great Hall, allowing the public to pay their respects. Justice O’Connor was appointed by President Ronald Reagan and died December 1, 2023, at the age of 93. Her funeral will take place at the National Cathedral December 19, 2023.

Honorary Golden Bear received by Andrzej Wajda at the Berlin Festival in 2006, seen as a part of the WAJDA exhibition at the National Museum in Krakow. The exhibition takes a visitor through the life and achievments of Andrzej Wajda, a Polish film and theatre director who was a prominent member of the 'Polish Film School' and considered one of the world's most renowned filmmakers whose works chronicled Poland's political and social evolution. Four of Wajda's films have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film: The Promised Land (1975), The Maids of Wilko (1979), Man of Iron (1981) and Katyn (2007). On Friday, April 12, 2019, in Krakow, Poland.
