Residence use hand pumps to get ground water as a source of clean water at one of settlement in Kebon Melati, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, March 28, 2018. According to the Directorate General of Water Resources of the Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing, at least 4.8 million people from 12 million population in Jakarta do not have access to clean water, because PAM Jaya as a government-owned company has difficulties in finding sources of raw water such as rivers and lakes that have been largely polluted. The lack of access to clean water has forced people to continue using groundwater that is capable of triggering land subsidence. In fact, from the results of UN research since 2014, Jakarta ranks 5th out of 11 cities in the world threatened clean water crisis in 2030.
