Dozens of children and teenagers, covered their bodies in various colors like monsters as they participated in the Ngerebeg ritual in Tegallalang, Gianyar, Bali on Wednesday, 8th of February 2023. This ritual has been performed for years and passed down from generation to generation. Ngerebeg is held the day before the peak of the Pura Duur Bingin's piodalan (celebration of the holy place's anniversary), which occurs every 210 days according to the Balinese calendar system. The monsters in this ritual walk around the village of Tegallalang for 6 kilometers to purify the mind of Bhuana Alit (the human body) and Bhuana Agung (the universe).
