A Rohingya refugee mother with is child in Kutupalong Refugee Camp, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. February 7, 2017. After attacks by Rohingya militants on border police posts on October 9, 2016, the Burmese military undertook a series of “clearance operations” in northern Rakhine State. Security forces summarily executed men, women, and children; looted property; and burned down at least 1,500 homes and other buildings. More than 69,000 Rohingya fled to Bangladesh. Currently the number is around 70,000.
