A cafe at night is displaying a sign on its window that reads, ''Thank you for helping us to keep open by keeping the hijab,'' in the historical seaport city of Bushehr, Bushehr province, on the northern coast of the Persian Gulf, 1090km (677 miles) south of Tehran, Iran, on April 29, 2024. Known in the inscriptions of the Sassanian Empire as ''Bokht Ardshir,'' meaning ''the city of liberation,'' Bushehr has experienced many historical events, including a Portuguese invasion during the Safavid era and British occupation during the Qajar period.
