Apple growers in Kashmir face heavy losses as recent floods from continuous rainfall damage many orchards during the peak harvest season. The problem worsens with the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, which stalls fruit-laden trucks. The combined losses to the apple industry, a major part of the region's economy, are estimated at around Rupees 700 crore.
