14 April 2019
On April 13, 2019, at the call of 51 unions, students and NGOs several hundred people gathered in Nantes as everywhere in France to defend the right to protest. This mobilization comes after the promulgation on April 10 of the "Law anti-breakers" (loi anti-casseurs). If the measure allowing the Prefects to prohibit demonstrations, without recourse to a judicial decision, any individual considered a "threat of a particular gravity for public order" was censored by the Constitutional Council, two other very controversial provisions however, they are validated: the one authorizing the searches around the demonstrations, and the one that creates a crime of concealment of the face, punishable by one year's imprisonment and a 15,000 euro fine. According to the signatories, this law constitutes "a serious attack on public freedoms and the balance of power ». The gathering was joined by the Yellow Vests (gilets jaunes) who organized their 22nd act.

Act 22 Of The Yellow Vest Protest In Nantes, France, on 13 April 2019. The Yellow Vests (Gilets Jaunes) of Loire-Atlantique mobilized for the 22nd weekend since November 17, 2018. While Emmanuel Macron is to unveil measures following the Great Debate, the Yellow Jackets intend to maintain pressure that their demands (Citizen Initiative Referendum, return of the ISF, tax and social justice) are satisfied. Beyond these claims, the procession wanted to claim the release of 15 yellow vests placed in custody the day before while they were making banners for the demonstration. The procession joined the demonstration organized by 51 organizations to preserve the right to demonstrate while just enacted the Anti-Crackers Act, considered liberticide. The demonstration took place in calm. A protester was evacuated unconscious to the University Hospital of Nantes after being jostled during a charge of the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) to disperse the demonstration.
