The blast occurs just hours after Indian police announce the arrest of another Kashmiri doctor, Muzammil Shakeel, in Faridabad, Haryana, on charges of plotting a terrorist attack. However, authorities have not yet confirmed any link between Shakeel and Monday's explosion.

The Z-Morh Tunnel, along with the Zojila Tunnel, which is scheduled for completion by 2026, ensures all-weather connectivity to the Ladakh region, which remains cut off from the rest of the country during winters.
