The Arkell Museum is seen in 2007 in Canajoharie, New York. A painting by American artist Gari Melchers was recovered from the museum by the FBI on September 10, 2019 after authorities learned that the piece had been seized from a Jewish family by the Nazis in 1933. The piece, "Winter", had originally been purchased from a New York City art gallery in 1934 by Bartlett Arkell, the first president of the Beech-Nut Packing Company, and it later became part of the collection of the museum that Arkell co-founded.
