Temporary police personnel, known as the Election Police, perform their duties ahead of the parliamentary elections in Kathmandu, Nepal, on February 26, 2026. The Government of Nepal enlists 150,000 civilians aged 18 to 54 to support security forces during the election period. The selected candidates complete a two-week training program that covers physical fitness exercises, basic security training, public engagement skills, and guidance on the election code of conduct. These temporary Election Police members are armed with batons as Nepal prepares to hold its parliamentary elections on March 5, 2026.
