The Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple, also known as the Old Baba Mandir or Adi Baba Mandir, is located at an elevation of over 13,000 feet near Nathu La, close to the India-China border in East Sikkim. It is a shrine dedicated to the late Indian soldier Sepoy Harbhajan Singh of the 23rd Regiment, who died in 1968 near Nathu La in Sikkim, India, after falling into a nullah while escorting a mule column from Tuku La to Dongchui La. The temple is constructed at the original site of his bunker near Tukla La and is considered sacred by the Indian Army and locals, who believe that the spirit of Harbhajan Singh, revered as a saint, continues to guard the Sikkim border and protect soldiers in the Himalayas. This photograph of Baba Harbhajan Singh's temple, surrounded by snow, is taken in Phadamchen, Sikkim, India, on April 17, 2026.
