Barbed-wire fence protecting the camp from outsiders. Evening sunset time outside of the barbed wire fence of the new camp for asylum seekers. A New Refugee camp has been created in Greece with the support of the EU. The new camp is a closed controlled facility where people can enter only by using their card in addition to their biometrical fingerprint. The new camp can host up to 3500 people, split in 8 different main areas according to the group category or the ethnicity. On September 21 the authorities moved all the remaining people from the former camp located in Vathi - Samos to the new one without any problems and resistance. Building and additional work is still in process. Police and security do a screening - security check before entering in the camp. Right now 283 people are located in the new facility that was officially opened a few days ago with European representation. Zervou, Samos Island, Greece on September 21, 2021

A police vehicle outside of the New Temporary Refugee Camp in Kara Tepe - Mavrovouni with large white tents having the UNHCR or UNICEF logo and asylum seekers waiting in line for registering and supplies such as food, beds, clothes etc as seen from the main guarded entrance. The new fenced camp is a former military area, shooting range of the Hellenic Army, near Mytilene city in Lesbos island Greece. The new camp was created after the fire of September 9, 2020 when one of the largest refugee camp in Europe, Moria refugee camp ( reception, Identification and registration center ) was burned. All the residents, the asylum seekers inside the camp have been tested for the Covid-19 Coronavirus virus and those who are positive are living in two designated quarantine areas protected by a barbed-wire fence. Until now 242 people, migrants and refugees in the camp are tested positive cases. Kara Tepes, Lesbos Island, Greece on September 2020
