Black and White picture B/W of Kamara and Rotunda in the background. The Arch of Galerius known as Kamara near Rotunda in Thessaloniki. The monument was commissioned by the Roman emperor Galerius and depicts with marble carved sculptural panels, reliefs the celebration of victory over Narses (Narseh) the seventh emperor in the Sassanid Persian Empire in 299 AD. The Arch of Galerius stands on what is now the intersection of Egnatia and Dimitriou Gounari streets. Construction of the arch was spanned the years 298 and 299 AD; it was dedicated in 303 AD to celebrate the victory of the tetrarch Galerius, over the Sassanid Persians at the Battle of Satala and the capture[citation needed] of their capital Ctesiphon in 298. Kamara is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988 and is a meeting point for locals, mainly students as it is located near the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Kamara with Rotunda are monuments that attract tourists on a daily basis. Thessaloniki, Greece on April 19, 2022
