It was built in 432BC by the architects Iktinos and Calicrates with famous sculptures from Phidias inside. Acropolis is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Greece is facing an increased wave of tourist arrivals in pre pandemic levels, as of summer 2022 the numbers are exceeding the era before the COVID-19 Coronavirus travel restriction measures. Tourism is one of the main income sources of the country. As of January 2023 local and international media mention talks between the Greek Government and the British Museum for the long standing dispute of the return of the Parthenon Marbles sculptures, parts of the frieze that have been removed from Lord Elgin and are displayed on the museum in London.
