In this picture Abdulakeem Alshino, Presidente do CISM - International Military Sport Concil. Of all medals received by Brazilian athletes during the 2016 Olympic Games, 75% came from military athletes of the Brazilian armed forces. Through the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Sports, the federal government invested in high-performance athletes turning them into Sergeants of the Army, Navy or Air Force. This military sports career enabled the athletes have a better preparation independent of whether or not private sponsors, as the armed forces provide all the support to the preparation of the athletes. In addition to military salaries, the military athletes also receive full support in sports science, medicine, physiotherapy and travel cost to training and competition. In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 20 August 2016, was made a ceremony of homage to the athletes (medalists and also to non-medalists) in the Fortress of St. Joseph, in downtown Rio, which had the participation of Abdulakeem Alshino (President of CISM) Ricardo Machado Vieira (Secretary of SEPESD), Paul Martino Zuccaro (President of CDMB) and Dorah Mamby Koita (General Secretary of CISM).
