During the press conference, Abdulakeem Alshino, President of CISM - International Military Sport Concil also highlighted other countries in the military athletes performed well, such as Russia, France, Italy and Germany. There is also the Military World Games, which take place a year before the Olympics and serve as preparation for military athletes high performance. Of all medals received by Brazilian athletes during the 2016 Olympic Games, 75% came from military athletes of the Brazilian armed forces. Through the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Sports, the federal government invested in high-performance athletes turning them into Sergeants of the Army, Navy or Air Force. This military sports career enabled the athletes have a better preparation independent of whether or not private sponsors, as the armed forces provide all the support to the preparation of the athletes. In addition to military salaries, the military athletes also receive full support in sports science, medicine, physiotherapy and travel cost to training and competition. In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 20 August 2016, was made a ceremony of homage to the athletes (medalists and also to non-medalists) in the Fortress of St. Joseph, in downtown Rio, which had the participation of Abdulakeem Alshino (President of CISM) Ricardo Machado Vieira (Secretary of SEPESD), Paul Martino Zuccaro (President of CDMB) and Dorah Mamby Koita (General Secretary of CISM).
