Soldiers of the King's Guard wear their distinctive winter grey Great Coats and bearskin hats as they participate in the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London, England, United Kingdom, on December 24, 2025. This historic tradition involves the Old Guard being relieved of their duties by the New Guard, accompanied by a military band and the Corps of Drums. During the winter months, the traditional scarlet tunics are replaced by heavy woollen overcoats to protect the troops from the cold.
