Created by students under Don Lorenzo Milani's guidance, the cards calculate the sidereal year (''Anno Siderale'': 365 days, 6 hours, 9 minutes, and 9 seconds, totaling 31,558,149 seconds), the synodic month (''Mese Sinodico'': 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 3 seconds, totaling 2,551,443 seconds), and provide a method for calculating the age of the Moon at any past date. The cards demonstrate the school's integration of scientific and mathematical education for rural working-class children.
