On March 10, 2026, a powerful supercell produced an intense EF-3 tornado and hail over 6 inches in diameter in Kankakee, Illinois, and surrounding areas, including parts of Indiana. The tornado touched down just west of IL 115 and proceeded east on the ground for 36 miles, resulting in 3 fatalities and 11 injuries.
