Local homeowners have filed the largest punitive damages civil lawsuit in Canadian history and are seeking are seeking $10 million in punitive damages against the Ambassador Bridge company for its creation of a west end 'slum'. The lawsuit, pointing to 112 properties purchased in Olde Sandwich Towne over the past decade by billionaire bridge owner Matty Moroun's company and allowed to be vacated, boarded up and left to rot. Bridge officials want to demolish homes on Indian Road, Rosedale Avenue and Edison Street to expand bridge operations and build a twin span.
