The placard reads 'Art or Death'. Culture workers (actors, live artists, musicians, technicians, etc.) and activists called to a 'monstration' in the streets of Toulouse to protest against the closing down of all theaters, cinemas, concert halls, etc. by the French government due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They also made this 'mostration' as a cultural place well-known called Mix'Art-Myrys has been closing down for 'security' reasons a few days ago. They think thier closure was due to their political positions against the mayor of Toulouse. The main coordinator of this self-administered place, Joel Lecussan participated to the mach along with between 3 and 5000 people. One of the major streets in Toulouse is nealy empty before 10pm. As cinemas, theaters, cafes, restaurants are closed and that French people need again a travel certificate and stay at home for this 2nd lockdown, the streets of Toulouse are nearly empty during the evening and the night. The lockdown (for now) is supposed to end on Decembre 1st. There is fewer people in the streets than normal days as stay-at-home directives are enforced even if this second lockdown is less stringent than the first one during the spring. The French government took these measures as the Covid-19 infection rate is soaring. However the French government is pondering to impose a curfew during the lockdown in Paris and maybe other major towns. Toulouse. France. November 3rd 2020.
