Guatemalan families in extreme poverty do not have smart phones or computers to receive online classes from their children via the internet. During the pandemic, President Alejandro Giammattei canceled on-site schools to prevent the spread of COVID-19. During the pandemic, 87,442 people were infected and 3,154 died.
