Italy and the European Commission are in negotiations to rescue and restructure the airline, through a new state-owned company called ITA, so the EU will approve the government cash injection of 3 billion euro. The world aviation passenger traffic numbers declined due to the travel restrictions, safety measures such as lockdowns, quarantine etc during the era of the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic that hit hard the aviation and travel industry.
