Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli (Center) waves at the media as he departs from the VVIP terminal of the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, on August 30, 2025, for China to attend the SCO Summit. Nepal is a dialogue partner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) since 2016. Oli holds bilateral meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Laotian Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. On September 1, Oli and the Nepali delegation take part in the SCO Plus Summit in Tianjin, where he is scheduled to deliver an address. Established in 2001, the SCO develops into one of the world's largest regional organizations. Its full member states include China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Iran. Belarus, Afghanistan, and Mongolia are observer states. Along with Nepal, countries such as Turkey, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Maldives, Myanmar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates are dialogue partners of the SCO. This is Oli's second visit to China since becoming prime minister for the fourth time in July last year. Earlier, Oli goes on an official visit to China from December 2 to 5, 2024.

11 February 2023

Youths are reacting as France's labour unions and left parties lead a fourth wave of nationwide protests against President Emmanuel Macron's plans to make the French work longer before retirement. More than 40,000 people are protesting in Toulouse against the planned reform of the pension and retirement age to 64 from 62, a move opinion polls show is opposed by a vast majority (93%) of workers already facing a cost-of-living crisis. The retirement age would be raised to 64 years (for 43 years of continued work) and the pensions would be lower, especially for women, people with 'short careers' and those with low wages. The COR (Counsel of Pension Guidance), which depends on the Prime Minister's Office directly, said in its latest report on September 2022 that it sees no need to reform the pension system as its share in the French GDP will remain steady at least until 2070. Nearly all sectors' unions have called for this strike and protest: mining and energy, health, schooling sector, transportation, truck drivers, refining workers, bank workers, etc. On February 11th 2023, Toulouse, France, is witnessing this protest.
