King Charles III of Great Britain and King Frederick X of Denmark attend the main commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camp at Auschwitz II-Birkenau in Brzezinka, Poland, on January 27, 2025. Auschwitz is a German Nazi concentration and extermination camp and remains the most recognizable symbol of the Holocaust. Jews from across Europe are murdered there, along with Poles, Roma, Sinti, and Soviet prisoners of war. On January 27, 1945, the Red Army enters the camp, liberating its prisoners. Delegations from over 50 countries gather to mark the 80th anniversary of its liberation.
