The Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had said on the floor of the assembly that the total number of cases in Bengal has already crossed 4,000 this year. She had asked the health department to prioritize dengue for now and prepare all mechanisms to fight the mosquito menace the way the state had fought Covid-19. Sources said, apart from Kolkata, districts like North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, Nadia, and Murshidabad are showing signs of a rapid rise in dengue cases. The West Bengal health department has deployed six medical officers to work under the public health director to help contain dengue and other vector-borne diseases. An Aedes sp.
